[TESTING] How to Install Windows 11 in an Unsupported Virtual Machine (VM)

As you may've known, Windows 11 requires certain security measures to be put in place, such as the TPM module, Secure Boot enabled, and a CPU officially supported by Microsoft.

Recently, a GitHub developer AveYo created a new Windows 11 install script for his Universal MediaCreationTool (MCT) wrapper which bypasses TPM and system requirements checks.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE that this is an unofficial third-party tool and you'll have to proceed at your own risk if you wish to run it on your main device! Please try it on Virtual Machines (VMs) ONLY!

I do not recommend using this tool for bypassing these restrictions, but it's equally understandable that capable programmers and tech savvy people will find as many workarounds as they can to use Windows 11 on their current systems, even if only for the sake of curiosity.

When executed, the script creates the "AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU" value under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup" in the registry and sets it to 1 or true. It also deletes the '' file.

Before using this script, when attempting to upgrade from Windows 10 build on a VMware virtual machine to the latest preview build, the upgrade failed as the setup could not see the Secure Boot feature, a TPM module, and the system disk was too small (less than 64 GB).

However, after running this script, I could install the latest Windows 11 preview build 22463 without ANY problem! WOW, I am really excited!

Once that's done, if you are enrolled in the Insider Program, the latest Windows 11 build will start downloading and installing it. If you are already running Windows 11 and have been denied an update, that will download now as well!

Anyone who decides to use this bypass should be aware that this is an unsupported method to install Windows 11 and could lead to performance issues or other bugs when using the operating system. Furthermore, Microsoft may not provide security updates to unsupported devices, so your installation may not be as secure. Some sources even say that you might even need to sign a waiver that asks you to acknowledge all damages to your PC due to a lack of compatibility will not be covered under your manufacturer's warranty.

This was necessary since VMs also now need to satisfy the Windows 11 requirements, something Oracle seems to be working on for a future VirtualBox driver.
